Movie Reviews 11/27
Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday and the long weekend that entailed. This week usually brings some pretty good movies along and this year did not disappoint. Today I'll be reviewing Disney's new animated film, Moana, and Brad Pitt/Marion Cotillard's new film, Allied.
Moana is a movie that I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot out of, even though Disney, animated-wise, very rarely puts out a film that is anything less than stellar. All I can say is, boy was I wrong. This film is absolutely incredible and may have taken from Kubo and the Two Strings my favorite animated movie of the year award. From the animation, to the music, all the way to the voice cast there is simply not a flaw that I can really think about to keep anyone from thoroughly enjoying this film. Moana may just be the new favorite princess around town too as there is no prince or love interest needed in this film. Have to give this movie a 9.75/10.
Allied is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan, who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war. The film stars Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, and honestly they are the only good things about the film. The movie can't decide if it wants to be a big-action war epic or a star-crossed lover romance film and it jerks the audience back in forth between the two. I saw this film at a 7:20 viewing and their were people falling asleep at times. I can't see paying to go to this movie in the theater as you can definitely wait for the TV or streaming option. I'll score this one a 6/10.
Year still has many more excellent movies to come and I'll keep bringing the reviews as fast as I can see them to help you decide what to go and see or what to save your money on. Also, Rogue One tickets are now available so go get them before they are gone.
