Beauty and The Beast Review
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney animated movie of all time and I watch it more than probably any other human being so I know the film beginning to end. A couple years ago I was nervously excited when news broke about the Disney live action remake train heading toward the Beauty and The Beast station. After now finally seeing the movie I can say I am so glad they made this the way they did and with all the cast chosen to play these iconic characters.
The standouts of the film are without a doubt Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as Lafeu with Emma Watson also showing she was perfectly cast as the title character Belle. While the movie incorporates all of the classic songs from the original they also blend in a few new songs that fit in well to bring a new flare. I was very impressed with the voices of all the characters giving their own interpretations of some of the best Disney songs that will make you want to have both soundtracks around to listen to. There are some subtle and some vast differences in the two films and most added depth to the story and enhanced the experience of the film with an extra 20 minutes to go into more detail.
While I thoroughly enjoyed this film and will probably see it once or twice more in the theater there a few nitpicking issues that I had with it. The CGI of the Beast wasn't great and there were a few changes from the original that I wasn't a big fan of but other than that the movie is practically perfect. I really don't see a way where any fan of the animated classic can come out of this new re-imagining without loving it and will score the new Beauty and The Beast 8.5/10.
